Interpreting, or spoken translation, helps you to communicate face-to-face with speakers of other languages. We can organise interpreting for all your events, from conferences and meetings to courses and seminars. We can also provide remote interpreting via conference call or Skype.
We offer several types of interpreting and can supply and set up all equipment when needed, including microphones, headsets and interpreting booths. All we need from you is a time, date and location as well as some briefing material, so your interpreter can research and familiarise themselves with the subject you will be talking about.
We understand that communicating effectively with business partners and colleagues is vitally important when doing business internationally and our experienced interpreters are fluent in both the languages required. They are well-briefed on the background and objectives of the event, as well as being punctual and presentable. They will ensure that your message is delivered as accurately and professionally as possible.
One of our dedicated project managers will oversee your interpreting assignment, from planning and preparation to the event itself. They will be just a phone call away for any queries you may have, both beforehand and on the day.
We offer three main types of interpreting:
Consecutive interpreting is used when there are only two languages involved. Each time the speaker finishes a sentence or paragraph they pause so that the interpreter can translate what they have just said. Consecutive interpreting is ideal for small meetings and Skype or conference calls. Remember that this type of interpreting could extend the length of the meeting as everything needs to be said twice.
Liaison interpreting is a more relaxed and flexible form of consecutive interpreting that is particularly useful for groups of fewer than four people such as executive visits or interview situations.
Simultaneous interpreting is normally used in situations where there are large numbers of people and more than two languages are spoken, such as at a conference or seminar. The interpreters sit in soundproof booths, or use a ‘Tour Guide’ system for smaller events, and interpret at the same time as the main speaker is speaking. They talk directly into a microphone and the listeners wear headsets to hear the translation.
