Although we know our work inside and out, we also want to help our clients understand what we can do for them and how we do it. Here are some answers to the questions we get asked on a regular basis and we hope you can find the answer you are looking for here, but, if not, just give us a call.

Which languages can you translate?

We can translate text into or from any language from Albanian to Zulu and everything in between. Every year we translate into and out of over 70 different languages.

What kind of material can you translate?

It is safe to say that, in over 35 years of business, there isn’t much we haven’t worked on before. Whether it is marketing material you need like brochures and websites, or something more technical or legal such as manuals or contracts, we can certainly help.

How much does it cost?

For an exact quotation, simply send us the file you need translating and let us know about the purpose of the text and its readership. We will then work out a quote for you.

Having the text itself is important as the main factor behind each quote we provide is the number of words. Other factors like format, layout and urgency can play a part too.

Our costs are calculated per 1,000 words of text (we can translate less than this amount too) and this varies between £100 and £200 depending on the language.

All of our prices are competitive and we are always looking at ways to keep costs as low as possible for our clients. This is why we continue to invest in clever software and experienced staff.

When can I have it?

As a guide, we allow for our translators to translate around 2,000-2,500 words per day. We then allow additional time for proofreading and in-house checks which are vital in achieving a word-perfect final piece.

If you have a particularly tight deadline you are working to, please let us know when you contact us. There are ways to speed up the process such as assigning two or more translators to one job, for example. These alternative methods may increase the cost but if time is of the essence it could be a good investment. We are always flexible in finding an appropriate solution.

I have a colleague who speaks the language I need. Why shouldn’t I just ask them to do it?

Simply put, our translations are better quality, better value, and much less hassle than doing it yourself.

How do you make sure your translations are accurate?

Every translation is carried out by a professional, mother tongue translator with knowledge of the subject.

It is also proof-read by a second linguist and then checked again by our project managers so you can be sure your message will come across in accurate, idiomatic language.

Which software can you work with?

Clients want translations in all the usual Microsoft Office formats such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and also in other publishing or design software like InDesign and Illustrator. We work with all common software formats and several others. Just tell us what you need and we can produce it.

Can you provide typesetting and DTP services in other languages?

Yes. We can help with typesetting of foreign languages and can even return the final files ready for print. We make your designs effective in other languages and make sure that your materials have the same impact in all your target markets.

How about proofreading and editing?

All of our translations are proofread by a second linguist but we can offer this as a separate service too. We also offer proofreading and editing for your material in English as we know how important an accurate text is if it is going to be made public to clients or customers, no matter where they are.

What kind of interpreting work do you do?

We do a wide variety of this kind of work including interpreting for meetings, conferences and interview situations.

Can you provide subtitling and voice-overs for film and video?

Yes, we work on subtitling and voiceovers, as well as transcription, for training films, promotional DVDs, and much more besides.

Do you offer translation for non-business clients?

Yes, we regularly translate certificates, wills, contracts and other documents for private clients.

Can you provide certified translations?

Yes, we can provide certification and/or notarisation if your documents are for an official body or a court of law. If you aren’t sure whether you need certification or notarisation, please get in touch and we will be happy to help.
